Parent and Carer Support and Information Sessions on

Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Issues

 

Please find attached information about the next Information and Support Sessions for Parents and Carers who are concerned about their pre-teen or teenager’s Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health.

 

Each monthly session has a different topic focus and there is an opportunity for parents and carers to meet other parents and supportive professionals in a safe relaxed environment. Parents and carers of 11-18 year olds from in and around Edinburgh are welcome to book to attend any of the sessions.

 

The next Parent and Carer Support and Information session is on-

 

Low Mood and Depression in Teenagers – This session will be delivered by Dr Sara Shafi, Clinical Psychologist – CAMHS (Child and Adolescence Mental Health Service)

Friday 20th April 2018, 9.30-11.30am, Gate 55, 55 Sighthill Road, Edinburgh, EH11 4PB (Free car park available at the venue)

 

Communication with Teenagers – Exploring the challenges of keeping the lines of communication open with teenagers who have emotional wellbeing and mental health issues. Considering ways to listen so that teenagers talk and talk so that teenagers listen.

Tuesday 1st May 2018, 6.30-8.30pm, Jack Kane Centre, 208, Niddrie Mains road, Edinburgh, EH16 4ND (Free car park available at the venue)

Open Day – Saturday 24th March 11am – 4pm.

The new school is open to the wider community this Saturday from 11am – 4pm. All welcome.

There will be an opportunity to self tour, hear and see pupil performances and purchase prints of the old school as well as buy a snack and coffee from our coffee bar.

Event for Parent Council

Pop Up PARTY

& thank-you for the teachers

 

on the early evening of Friday 23rd March 4.30 – 6.30 for which we have begun to sell tickets, through Eventbrite, and we need your support to help us to sell more – we have a maximum of 200 tickets.

We hope that the event will kickstart an ongoing New School, New Goodwill Fund.

 

The £15 ticket includes:

  • the opportunity to ‘self tour’ the new school and its beautiful teaching and learning spaces from 4.30
  • Bubbles & Canapes from 5.00
  • Live music from the senior pupils’ Jazz Band, duetting guitarists and more, throughout the event
  • the unveling of a new painting of the Old School at 5.30 by Former Pupil Ronnie Brown (ex Corries)
  • a Private View of the photography and ‘bricks’ produced by the ‘In With the Bricks’ Creative Team
  • your chance to sign up and ‘make your mark’ in the Artwork being made to celebrate the year-long Heritage Lottery funded creative heritage and arts project.

There will also be a raffle of a few good prizes – raffle tickets will cost £2 each – it will be called by David Dempster at 6.15pm

Boroughmuir along with all other schools in Edinburgh will remain closed on Friday 2nd March. This applies to staff also who should continue to work from home.

This is to confirm that due to severe weather Boroughmuir, along with all other schools in Edinburgh, will remain closed tomorrow –  Thursday 1 March. School staff should stay at home.
