Neurotheatre – Simulated Brain Surgery!

Thursday 14 March 2019, Anatomy Lecture Theatre, Old Medial School, Teviot Place, Edinburgh

As part of Brain Awareness Week 2019, Edinburgh Medical School will be opening up the historic Anatomy Lecture Theatre for an interactive performance of simulated brain surgery, featuring state-of-the-art surgical technology.

Led by a diverse cast of neurosurgeons, A&E doctors and medical students, Neurotheatre will give audience members insight into the emergency care and neurosurgical treatment of a patient following a road traffic accident. In an experience that guarantees to be both captivating and educational, members of the public will witness the work of the emergency services before hearing a first-hand account of the effects of traumatic brain injury by a patient ambassador from the charity Headway.

Interactive pop-up stalls: Prior to the performance, audience members will have a chance to try their hand at suturing and emergency first-aid as well as to learn about the cutting-edge technologies used in rehabilitation of patients following brain injury. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and to meet the medical and surgical staff involved.

Programme for the evening:
The event will take place on Thursday 14th of March 2019.
1730-1830: Doors open for the pop-up stalls.

WW1 Exhibition

Boroughmuir High school would like to invite you to an exhibition being held in the school this Friday 22nd February 2-4pm that commemorates the fallen of Boroughmuir.

Much of the research about the fallen soldiers that will be exhibited alongside photographs of the fallen, has been carried out by consecutive groups of our  S4 pupils over the war’s centenary.

This information alongside original material about life at the school during WW1 is being published in a book which will be available for pre order at the exhibition.

The exhibition will provide information on every person on the memorial alongside other key figures and include never before seen letters from soldiers and photographs.

The exhibition will also display the commemorative Art work created by our Higher and Advanced Higher art pupils including our stained glass installment and ceramic poppy display.
