Barnardo’s Scotland Volunteer Recruitment Campaign – Fortnight of Fun!

At Barnardo’s Scotland, volunteers are vital to the work that we do with children/young people and we would love your help with promoting our new volunteer recruitment campaign.

Fortnight of Fun”, offers the chance for young people (age 14+) to volunteer in the summer holidays for two weeks, or longer.

Fortnight of Fun

Our aim is to get more young people involved within our retail stores. They would be able to gain valuable work experience, they could complete Duke of Edinburgh’s Award hours or it could be the perfect opportunity for them to try something new with their free time. Their contribution however big or small, will continue to help support our work across Barnardo’s Scotland.

Some of the types of activities young people can be involved in are:

  • Arranging a window display, either themed/seasonal and taking part in a display competition
  • Entertainment (arranging displays for books, music, DVDs)
  • Hidden treasure – E-bay research (to assess if items are worth sending for posting on E-bay) – packaging items up for Ebay and sending with the supporting research

Details on our shop locations can be found here, by searching with your school address postcode.

We would very much appreciate if you could share the attached flyer across your school. If you also need colour copies of the flyer, we do have flyers which we would be happy to post to you.

Thank you for your help and support and if you need any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Best wishes,

Keisha

Calling all Chemists!

N5/H Chemistry Tutorial Webinar Programme in the run-up to the exam on May 10th

After teaching chemistry for the last 21 years, I have recently started my own business providing life skills workshops for young adults. However, I feel there is always a demand for chemistry tuition. My webinars satisfy this need, without the awkward logistics!

This week I am hosting a free webinar on my Top 5 Revision Tips for National 5 and Higher Chemistry. If you feel it could be of interest to your pupils, I would be delighted if you could share the registration link with them:

Alternatively, you may want to look at my website: https://www.needachemistrytutor.co.uk which lists the topics covered in the webinar programmes.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate how busy you must be.

Kind regards,

Mary McPhail

S2 Future Choices Marketplace and Information Evening

A big thank you to all S2 parents, pupils and staff who attended our Marketplace and Information Evening last Thursday.  There was a fantastic turnout and a real “buzz” around the Atrium between parents, pupils and teachers.  This was our first Marketplace event and the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive.  Lou Murphy our Careers Coach was also on hand to support future choices – thanks Lou.  If you didn’t make it I have uploaded the slides we used in our presentation.  We look forward to seeing S2 parents again next Monday 11th March for our Consultation Evening.  All course choice forms are then due back to guidance teachers by Friday 15th March.
