Aims & Teaching Approaches
The broad aims of the department are to:
- encourage pupil interest and enjoyment in Chemistry
- provide pupils with a knowledge and understanding of chemical concepts and processes appropriate to their level of study and suited to their individual abilities
- develop awareness of the role of chemistry in every day life.
The development of the above aims and the requirements of the Advanced Higher syllabus are delivered using a mixture of lectures, tutorials and practical sessions. Use is also made of the SCHOLAR programme.
