Pupil Equity Funding

One of The Scottish Government’s major priorities for schools is to ‘close the poverty related attainment gap’.

In support of this, the government is giving additional funding (Pupil Equity Funding) to schools to put in place strategies to assist in this task.

The amount of funding given to secondary schools is calculated by the government on the number of pupils in a school’s S1-S3 who are in receipt of free school meals.

We have recently appointed for a Pupil Equity Fund Coordinator, Mr Else our Curriculum Leader for PE, to coordinate across the school strategies to help close the attainment gap.

It is also in his remit to ensure that those families that are entitled to free school meals and clothing grant feel able to apply. We are urging parents and carers who are eligible or may think they are eligible to apply.

To assist you with this, you can log on to www.edinburgh.gov.uk/schoolgrants for more information. Paper copies of this information and forms are also available from the school office. Mr Else is available to assist in completing the form.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Else, via the school office.
