There are a number of reasons for having a clearly defined dress code within a large school.
We want our dress code policy to be fully inclusive and support the diverse range of young people in our school. We have considered how we ensure that it is affordable, comfortable, practical and able to be worn by all.
If your young person has any issues with any element of the dress code, please do contact your child’s guidance teacher or year head.
Support with uniform
We thank parents and carers for co-operating with the school in the supporting Boroughmuir High School’s dress code. The school is always here to help in anyway we can. Please contact the school via admin@Boroughmuir.edin.sch.uk , telephone 0131 229 9703 or by contacting your child’s guidance teacher.
School ties are available from the school office. Ties for S1-S4 are £3. Ties for S5 and S6 are £5. This is the only school branded item of uniform we ask families to buy and we will happily provide for anyone that needs one.
We will run regular preloved uniform sales and willingly accept any uniform that young people may have grown out of and no longer need.
We will provide school uniform items for any young person who has not been able to turn up in the agreed school dress code.

Pupils should bring appropriate clothing for the activity they are working on. Activities can be indoor and outdoor so preparing for the weather is important.
PE clothes should be different from those worn to school. During PE lessons all jewellery must be removed and long hair tied back. We encourage families to send young people in with safety equipment, such as shin pads, for activities such as hockey and football, should they have them. We will try to provide for those who wish to use protective equipment but do not have access to any. This is not compulsory but encouraged.
