If I need help with my subjects

  • Talk to your subject teacher
  • Talk to the CL of the subject

If I am concerned about how I am feeling, worried about someone else or want to report something I have seen

  • Talk to your guidance teacher
  • Complete the ‘I just want to say’ form

Childline offer free confidential help to young people online through their 1-2-1 counsellor chat or on the phone.

Shout provides young people with access to free, confidential and anonymous support 24/7 via text. All texts are answered by trained volunteers, with support from experienced clinical supervisors. Texts are free from EE, O2, Vodafone, 3, Virgin Mobile, BT Mobile, GiffGaff, Tesco Mobile and Telecom Plus.

Texts can be anonymous, but if the volunteer believes you are at immediate risk of harm, they may share your details with people who can provide support.

Young Minds provides mental health support to both young people and their families and is a good source of information regarding mental health conditions.

Papyrus is dedicated to the prevention of suicide in young people.They are available 24/7 to support young people who are feeling suicidal or those concerned about them. In an emergency please take your young person to A&E.

Where to get help

Here is our school communication policy.

If my child is absent – please call the school before 8.30am on 0131 229 9703 and select 1. Alternatively, you can email admin@boroughmuir.edin.sch.uk and confirm the child’s full name, year group and reason for absence.

If you want to talk about something to do with their subjects and learning – email admin@boroughmuir.edin.sch.uk. Please note the school subject in the subject field. This will be sent to the subject CL

If you want to talk about pastoral concerns, success and other things happening in a child’s life that you think school should know, email admin@boroughmuir.edin.sch.uk. Please note the name of the house or the name of their guidance teacher in the subject field. This will be passed on to the relevant member of staff.
