We’re here!!

I’m pleased to report that all resources and equipment has been successfully transported down to the new school.

Much of it is already unpacked and teachers are now continuing with unpacking and setting up teaching areas.

Our telephones are now transferred over and our computer systems are up and running.

We are of course receiving all our pupils this Wednesday 21st on the following schedule.

On arrival, pupils should wait in the main playground on the west of the building until called.

In the event of inclement weather, pupils will be able to wait in the lower atrium.

There will be a 20 minute assembly in the assembly Hall with HT and DHTs

  • S1 – arrive at 8.32am – assembly will then go to P1 class
  • S2 – arrive at 9.00am – – assembly will then go to P1 class
  • S3  – arrive at 9.30am – – assembly will then go to P2 class
  • S4 – arrive at 10am – – assembly will then go to P2 class
  • S5 – arrive at 10.55am – – assembly will then go to P3 class
  • S6 – arrive at 11.30 am – – assembly. No P4 class (usually S6 assembly). Will have early lunch

There is a full catering service available on Wednesday. It is hoped that pupils will use our new facility but pupils are allowed out at break and lunch as before.

S1 and S2 pupils will be dismissed from P4 slightly early to allow a staggered lunch on our first day.

Pupils should bring books and equipment for lessons as we are expecting to commence learning and teaching as soon as possible.

There will be a whole school assembly in our atrium for all pupils and staff at 3.20 pm to welcome the whole school together to our new building.

All pupils will be issued with a new timetable and a paper copy of the attached floor plan and basic rules on their first day.

We’re looking forward to welcoming all our pupils back and getting learning and teaching up and running in our fabulous new school.

A final message from Viewforth                                                           Tuesday 6th Feb 2018

This is the 5th Group Call message outlining our progress in the migration to the new school.

Dear Parents, Carers, Pupils and Staff and to everyone connected with Boroughmuir High School,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to you for the very last time from our lovely old school here on Viewforth, EH10. As you know, we close Boroughmuir High School on Viewforth, tomorrow Wednesday 7th February at 3.30pm.

This lovely old building has been in existence for 105 years and has been a huge part of literally tens of thousands of children’s lives.

As 9th Head teacher of Boroughmuir High School it has been a privilege to work with such great pupils and staff in such a great building over the years.

I, and I’m sure all of them too, are sad in many ways that we are leaving here.

However, at the same time it has been an honour to be part of the commissioning process of the new Boroughmuir High School.

We now have a new state of the art school which is ready to house this great establishment for at least the next 105 years!

It’s an incredibly exciting phase in the life of the school and in the lives of all those connected with the school.

So it is with some considerable sadness that we say goodbye to 26 Viewforth EH10 4LR but with palpable excitement that we look forward to opening the new, 3rd  Boroughmuir High School at 111 Viewforth EH11 1FL on Wednesday 21st February 2018.

I look forward to welcoming you all there in the very near future.

Yours sincerely

David C. Dempster

Head Teacher
