Iain Innes at the Winter Youth Olympics

iainFormer Boroughmuir High School Pupil, Iain Innes (2010 to 2015), has been selected to represent Team GB at the Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer which start tomorrow. Team GB’s allocation is one male and one female under 18 skier so Iain is delighted and honoured to be selected. He travelled to Lillehammer on Monday morning along with the other 15 members who will represent Team GB in freestyle skiing, bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey skills challenge, luge and skeleton.

Iain will compete in the alpine skiing events; slalom, giant slalom, super-giant slalom and super combined. Although Iain has had international medal success competing for Britain previously at the Andorra Trofeu Borrufa races, and has skied for Britain for the last five years, he cites this as his greatest achievement to-date and is looking forward immensely to representing Team GB.

Iain’s first event is on this Saturday 13th February at the Hafjell ski resort 16 km from Lillehammer, when he races in the high speed “Super G” event where speeds in excess of 65mph are expected.
